Five Reflections (2023)

Five Reflections is built around the idea of transitioning from nonpitched material to pitched material. Within the piece there are five sections, the first two being a part of the nonpitched world and the last two being a part of the pitched world. As such, the first and fifth sections are linked through material and motivic ideas, as are the second and fourth sections. Although the different sections share material, the context has been completely changed through the journey into tonality. The third section stands out as the turning point where the switch to tonality begins.
