Musings of a Lost Child (2019)

Musings of a Lost Child is a piece for solo unaccompanied clarinet that is centered around the pensive tensions and unsatisfactory releases found in the yearning melody. Each phrase develops itself, leading to an answer of its purpose, only to be met with angst and confusion. Large displays of passion are diffused with only the simplest of remarks. Tonality is present, yet in the sparse landscape of the instrumentation it often becomes ambiguous and seems almost forgotten. As the listener is taken through the piece, they are brought to question themselves, as the notions they brought with them in the beginning of the piece are turned on their head.
